Dixie Diamond Merges with Concut, Inc.
Dixie Diamond Manufacturing (DDM) of Lilburn, Georgia and Concut, Inc. of Kent, Washington have joined forces to create a combined entity with a national presence. Both are family-owned businesses with long histories of success in the manufacture of diamond blades, core bits and equipment. Together, they constitute the largest American-owned diamond tool manufacturer in North America. The merger realizes long-held goals of the management of both companies. Greg and Garrett Wolters of DDM, and Jim Mayer of Concut, had each recognized the potential benefits of bringing their two companies together. Both businesses have grown rapidly in recent years and have sought opportunities to provide greater value to customers. With manufacturing facilities on separate coasts, sales representatives in different states and complementary product lines, there is a natural fit between the two organizations. As stated by Jim Mayer, “We have combined the two most dynamic companies in the industry. There will be significant advantages for our customers as well as growth opportunities for our employees.”

The management team intends to accelerate its investment in both manufacturing facilities and to capitalize on the company’s strengths in metallurgy and product engineering. The product offerings will be integrated to provide a more extensive selection of diamond blades, core bits, equipment and accessories to customers throughout the country. Despite the increased size of the combined organization, it will continue to operate with the entrepreneurial culture that has always characterized both firms. The consolidated enterprise, now known as the Dixie Diamond-Concut Group, has over 100 years of combined experience in diamond tool and equipment manufacturing. It will be headquartered at the DDM location near Atlanta, Georgia.

Fume Tube Dust Removal System Released
CSDA member Enviro Chasing Services of Australia is pleased to release a new product called the Fume Tube. The device attaches to gas-powered concrete hand saws and, in conjunction with a vacuum system, removes gas fumes (including carbon monoxide) from the immediate cutting area when cutting indoors or in enclosed spaces—preventing carbon monoxide poisoning. It is particularly useful when cutting in basements and in ditches. It can also be attached to diamond chain saws. Fume Tube attaches to the saw via a threaded muffler, which the company sells with the unit for popular Husqvarna and Stihl hand saw models. This product was demonstrated at the 2015 and 2016 World of Concrete trade shows and won “Most Innovative Product—Peoples’ Choice” at the 2015 show.
